How do I become present?

You become present by clearing your mind of any internal thoughts.

When you become present you can think better, listen to what people are saying, make better decision, feel less stressed, less overwhelmed, and you can become more in tune with your body.

Here are a few exercises to become present that I have given to my clients:

Meditate: focus on your breathing. Just breathe by taking deep breathes in and out, and allows your thoughts to subside.

Focus on surroundings: look around. What do you hear? What do you see? What do you feel? What do you taste? What colors are around you? This will help you tap into what is around you instead of being in your head.

Body Scan/Body Awareness: Tap into your body. Relax your body. Where do you feel tension? Release the tension in your body. How do your feet feel? How do your legs feel? How do your arms feel? Back? Belly? Shoulders? Neck? Face? Forehead? Scan your whole body from head to toe and become present to see how it feels and where you could relax.

If you would like more help on this or some guidance on this, then send me a message to set up a time to speak.

This is a great question.  I love this question because it really focuses on the heart of who we are. Every person has been in a situation and was "Not Present".  Physically they were there, but not emotionally or mentally. The idea is being present takes the focus away from us and places the focus on to someone else.

People think of changing the world, but now one thinks of changing themselves. It is not about what others do, it is about how we impact others in our world. As we think about being present, we need to think about how we can be present in the lives of others.  Zig Ziglar said, " When we help others get what they want, they will help you get what you want."

There is no secret to being present, it is a mindset that we intentionally set to focus on the needs of other people.
