How do I get over my fear of getting cancer when so many of my family members have died from it?

Thank you so much, Coach.  I am going to start today doing some of the things you suggested, beginning with turning off the screens 30 mins before I turn in. Thanks!

Great question!

I also have many family members who have died from cancer including my mother, and both my grandparents both on my mother side and my father side.

The best way to get over your fear is to make changes in your life.

Start living a healthy lifestyle.

See how the people in your family were living in their lifestyle and make sure yours is a better quality of life.

Start exercising.
The CDC recommends 150 minutes  of exercise each week. This could be simply walking for half an hour five times a week.

You could also work out and do resistance training. If you have not worked out in a while or are tight on time try doing some resistance training like push-ups, pull-ups, or dips  for 10 minutes, three times a week. Then work your way up to 30 minutes, three times a week.

Start eating healthy.
Eat more fruits and vegetables and eat less processed and packaged food.  Also eat less sugar.  Sugar feeds cancer while fruits and vegetables reduce your risk of cancer because of their antioxidants and phytochemicals.

Get 7 to 8 hours sleep a night. Try turning off all screens 30 minutes before bed.

Make time to relax and destress. This could be yoga, meditation, listening to music,  whatever helps you relax in a healthy way.

That's a great question!
To overcome your fear of getting cancer when so many around you have passed from it:
•    Focus on living your truth.
•    Living the life you want.
•    Expressing your desires more fully in the moment and directing your energy into your own fulfilment and happiness rather than your fear.
•    Take time to come to know your self more fully in the moment, rather than feeding your fear by focusing on it.
•    Give your unexpressed energy a focus and put yourself at the centre of your life.
•    Listen to your own needs and go within to hear your truth.
That you are asking this question suggests you have forgotten the power you have over your own destiny, health and well-being. You have become fear based and somewhat removed from your personal power.

Your energy will be directing you in your life's purpose right now, beyond the fear in your mind. Trying to show you how to re-align and flourish. Go beyond the fears and find the answers within.
To harness your mind and to re-connect to your inner truth and personal power; to tap into your energy right now and find your true focus, contact me.

Hi Harold,

Your fear is completely understandable and not something you should judge yourself for. But leaning to live with it is important.

The first thing you need to do is to get some information.  There are all sorts of tests out there that can be run to see if you have any genetic markers for cancer. My family has an extensive history of cancer and many of us have been tested to see if we are predisposed to it. That knowledge has been important for many of my family members and could help you put your mind at ease.

It is, of course, also important to take care of yourself. Eat well, get plenty of sleep, keep stress at bay, try not too worry too much. All of those things will help you stay healthy and might keep cancer at bay.

Good luck! Mitzi
