Gratitude is one of the most medicinal emotions we can feel. It is a human experience.

t is the measure of which we show our appreciation for something and in return the kindness we receive from those whom we express gratitude toward. Implementing gratitude in day to day life is an essential step in maintaining a health mind, body, and spirit connection. Gratitude has been shown to increase longevity and raise dopamine levels, resulting in a more positive outlook on life. These following tips can act as a catalyst to start adding a bit more gratitude into your life.
1. Journal your gratitude. Are you grateful that you have found your soulmate? Or are you thankful that you have your health? Keeping a gratitude journal can help document the things in your life that you are most grateful for. When you are feeling defeated, overwhelmed, or underappreciated, you can read back to past passages to lift your spirit and gain perspective on the important things in life- and re-experience gratitude presently.
2. Do something for others. The most fulfilling sense of gratitude I have ever experienced has been at the hands of helping others. Doing something for others is a great way to not only show gratitude for the human experience, but also, get to know yourself better. And when we experience gratitude from others, we learn more about ourselves. Experiencing the gratitude of other people helps deepen our own sense of gratitude by assisting us in gaining perspective in our own situation. We can see firsthand, our life’s blessings in action. BONUS! Volunteering has also been scientifically proven to increase ability to manage stress, build stronger bonds, and feel empowered!
3. Do something for yourself. Doing something for yourself is essential for feeding your self-worth – Being grateful, in the moment, for being alive. Doing something for yourself celebrates you…For putting in long work hours, for building other people up, for living in every single moment, knowing that it could all change. Get a massage, do yoga or pilates, give time to your personal goals. Spend some time showing gratitude for all that you are, and all the potential you have yet to unlock.
4. Try something new. Whether you are spiritual or not, you are here on this earth – experience it! Thank the earth for its wondrous mountains by taking a hike. Admire its changes by visiting a museum. Find an outdoor activity for every season or enjoy a play. You have endless experiences awaiting you.
